About Susan

Susan, a native of North Carolina, attended Elon University and graduated from North Carolina State University in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication.  During this time, she worked with Smith Anderson Law Firm in Raleigh.  Susan and her husband relocated to Wilmington in 1993 after he joined the management team at GE Nuclear.  They live in the Landfall community, near Wrightsville Beach.

In 2008, Susan joined the award-winning team at Intracoastal Realty, becoming a multi-million dollar producer providing an exceptional level of service to her clients which includes keeping her finger on the pulse of the ever-changing real estate market.  From an initial introduction to the real estate closing, Susan’s unparalleled commitment to her client’s goals, is fostered by timely, consistent communication in tandem with meticulous attention to detail.

Professional Designations

Susan earned the Certified Negotiation Expert designation ensuring her client’s maintain the strongest possible position during negotiations within the areas extremely competitive market.  Her portfolio includes physicians, seasoned professionals, investors, retirees and first time home buyers. As a Relocation Specialist, Susan enjoys introducing our historic-coastal lifestyle to our newest residents and ensuring they find that perfect neighborhood.

More About Susan

Susan served on the Board of Intracoastal Realty Teacher’s Fund for 2 years.  The fund is a non-profit organization established to assist local public and private K-5th teachers with much needed supplies and books.  While raising her family, Susan volunteered with PTA, served as a Sunday School teacher at First Baptist of Wilmington, and remains active in community service.


Susan enjoys an active lifestyle with her husband and their three young adult sons. The Paulson family also includes their two rescues, Carly is an energetic Golden Retriever and Gracie a farm cat at heart pretends to tolerate the city.  Susan fills her leisure time with reading, cooking, walking, Pilates, and exploring our coastal waterway. Her joy for cooking is inspired by her Mom with whom she loves collaborating to create fresh new recipes.  As a “self-proclaimed” foodie, Susan loves sharing her favorite local restaurants and coffee shops with clients.
